Church College of NZ in Hamilton's Temple View was built in 1952.

Set up to educate young Latter Day Saints, by the time it closed sixty years later, tens of thousands of predominantly Māori students had passed through its doors.

The school and the Temple were built through the goodwill of Māori missionaries. But now they’re plans to demolish the school and replace it with residential housing.

The plan has been brokered by the church's property arm in America and it's got Māori members off side.
