Native Affairs - An Urban Tragedy

What could be worse than driving over your son or daughter?

While much is known about how and why driveway accidents occur, our kids continue to die.  New Zealand has one of the highest incidents of child driveway death and injury in the world and it is Māori and Pacific Island children from lower socio-economic families who are the most at risk.

Last year 6 children under the age of 5 died from a driveway run over.  All killed by someone they knew. One of those kids was South Auckland toddler, Vaimoana Mafi.

Native Affairs reporter, Ruwani Perera tells her father's story.
