The award was collected by his mother, Heneriata last night in in his absence. Nehe spoke in te reo Māori for the very first time, as he chats exclusively about his accomplishments this year.

Speaking Māori to the media for the very first time.

“Kei te harikoa te ngākau i tēnei wā mō tēnei taonga, ka noho whakaiti ahau i tēnei wā hoki” which means when translated, “I am so happy to receive this award and am humbled right now” says Ngāti Porou and Tapuika descendant, Milner-Skudder.

That's right, ladies and gentlemen, he speaks Māori as well. Another award to add to his swag of trophies for All Blacks' star, Nehe Milner-Skudder.

“I'd definitely put it right up there, and yeah it’s a huge honour for me to be recognised” says All Black, Milner-Skudder.

The other nominees in the Senior Māori Sportsman of the Year category were in exquisite form, Nehe was lucky enough to win.

For Nehe it was an honour to receive such a prestigious award and be recognised in Te Ao Māori.

Nehe describes his successes as from the hard work of many. The award was collected by his mother last night in Tūrangawaewae Marae.

“I was surprise to see him being nominated with those other amazing athletes, I couldn't believe it. It's a real honour” says his mother, Hereiata.

Nehe commences preseason training with the Hurricanes in the New Year.
