Ngā Manu Kōrero 2014 Nationals kicks off in Napier

The competition part of the 2014 Ngā Manu Kōrero o Ngā Kura Tuarua Nationals is set to begin tomorrow in the Hawke's Bay.

Now into its 49th year, the competition is still thriving with many young orators willing to try their hand at public speaking.

Students from all across the country have made their way down to Hawke's Bay for the national speech competition for the first time since 1992.

It's an opportunity for students to flex their native tongue, a place where the platform is laid for future Māori leaders.

They'll all be vying for some of the most coveted trophies in the history of the competition that will be a huge honour for the winner, their family and their iwi.
