Ngā Ringa Raupā - Rangi Davis

Te Kāea's Matariki Hero for tonight has dedicated over 20 years of hard work to the community and the families of Hato Petera College, but especially offering support to Māori women and their children.

However, she says she couldn't have achieved her goals and aspirations without the support of her husband, who she refers to as her backbone.

Rangi Davis says, “I reflect on all the love and caring our parents heaped on us as children and grandchildren.  This is what they envisioned for us; to live a peace and spiritual life.

I'm on the board of TWONA and also ANCAD in Takapuna.  I work alongside CYF as a counsellor for the non-Māori staff.

I also work with HESTIA which is a Women's Refuge in Silverdale.

My husband is my backbone.  He's behind me in everything I do.  Wherever and whenever, he's always there for me.”

Her husband, Kingi Davis says, “Oh, my role is to help where I can, bag carrier, dishwasher, tidying and cleaning and staunch supporter."

When asked if Rangi Davis was an unsung hero, Pouro Kanara said, “Oh, definitely!  I agree because all she has done has come from the heart.  She is truly a hero to us.”
