Ngāpuhi art exhibition great success

Ngāpuhi is the largest iwi within Māoridom however, the tribe itself is yet to complete a treaty settlement with the Crown.

Although that is yet to happen, Ngāpuhi has for 8 years run their iwi festivals to unite and connect their people.

Many flocked to Kaikohe to experience not only the big stage performances but also the small acts on display.

Toi Ngāpuhi, the art exhibition arm of the festival, has had its doors opened since Wednesday night and by midday, they had made more than $40,000 through art sales.

The festival has nearly come to an end and it's expected that another Ngāpuhi Festival will be held next year in Auckland.
