Ngaruahinerangi set to sign deed of settlement

Titokowaru's descendants stand proud on his paa site, 'Te Ngutu o te Manu' as they await Minister of Treaty Settlements, Chris Finlayson’s arrival at the South Taranaki Paa site for the signing of the deed of settlement and Crown apology.

67.5 million in cash and land assets as well as a fully functioning post settlement entity are ready to roll for the people of Ngaruahinerangi who can finally move forward.

“It’s been four years in the making which is a relatively short settlement journey in comparison to many iwi” says Ngaruahine Head negotiator Daisy Noble. She says first on the list of spends will be their 8 Marae which are in serious disrepair.
