Ngāti Whare leaders team with Waiariki Institute of Technology & Unitec

Leaders from Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Whare today teamed up with Waiariki Institute of Technology and Unitec to form a research initiative that involves sustainable and healthy buildings.  The initiation of this partnership was held at Tangatarua Marae, Rotorua.

According to Rapata Wiri, “Therefore, Ngāti Whare, the governing body of Ngāti Whare, Waiariki Institute of Technology and Unitec Faculty of Applied Science will be looking into the different illnesses that affect us.”

There are three research projects involved in this collaboration the first two includes, Indoor Air Quality for homes and sustainable building practices which will be conducted by local Rotorua Company, WoodlaNZ and Waiariki.

The third project looks at healthy homes involving families living in rural Minginui, Te Whaiti.

The projects are set to begin next year due to the planning process being completed.
