NRL Nines Kiwi Ferns trials underway

20 players will be selected for 2015 NRL Nines Kiwi Ferns side for a three-game series against Australia.

Today the NZRL kicked off its only trial to face the Australian Jillaroos.  Almost 50 of the country’s finest female rugby league players attended the trial to put there fitness to the test in being selected to represent New Zealand.

Head coach Rusty Matua says the trial attracted international players like Cook Island's player Kimiora Nati.

Another competitor is NZ recognized international karate, rugby league, touch, tag and softball player, Laura Mariu, who says Nines would be another challenge.

The squad will be named later this evening.
