NZ Embassy issues advice following Paris terror attacks

The New Zealand Embassy in Paris is seeking information on the nationalities of victims and casualties following a series of unprecedented terrorist attacks.

France has declared a state of emergency and closed the country's borders.

“In these difficult moments, we must - and I'm thinking of the many victims, their families and the injured - show compassion and solidarity,” says French president Francois Hollande.

The latest reports reveal eight attackers have been killed.  Five were bombers and at least 150 people have lost their lives.

The New Zealand Embassy in Paris says there are 249 New Zealanders registered on Safetravel as being in France.

Paris residents have been asked to stay indoors and about 1500 military personnel have been deployed across the city.

The New Zealand Embassy in France is advising people if they have any concerns about family members in Paris please contact them in the first instance.
