NZ side off to good start at Wellington Sevens

Day one of the Wellington Sevens has kicked off and as a build up to the Olympics, the New Zealand side are hoping to gain their third title win at the Wellington competition.

All eyes were on Sonny Bill Williams as he entered the Wellington Sevens.

But against Russia, it was no surprise that the defending champs would have the first say.

The Kiwis had more tricks up their sleeves as the game went on.  Ben Lam creating this play to surge forward.

While Akira Ioane scored his second try, local rugby stars performed their own version of the haka in the stands.

Russia finally scored a try.

This gave the Kiwis an opportunity to inject more power into their play.

To finish, Williams scored his first try.
