Gallery: One of Taneatua's oldest houses set for makeover

One of the oldest houses in Taneatua, a small town between Whakatane and Ruatoki, is set for a makeover and will house local artworks including those of Tūhoe artist Tame Iti.

Iti has teamed up with local man Laurence Hughes who purchased the property with the idea of a local art space in mind for the rural community.

Our reporter Maiki Sherman visited the site today and spoke with the pair about their vision. Tune in for this story on Te Kāea at 5.30pm and 7pm with subtitles.
