Papatoetoe poppy flourishes ahead of Anzac Day

The Papatoetoe Historic Society's "Lest We Forget" Exhibition has brought together community groups and individuals to make 3000 poppies as a symbol of peace and remembrance, which were placed on the ground in the form of one large poppy.

According to Jenny Clark, “We've got display boards, we've got war memorabilia and the Auckland Museum has also loaned us one of their Cenotaph databases so that we can access information.”

“Over and above that we've got 3 Diorama one is on Crete the other one is on Gallipoli and the other one is on the Western Front,” says Ms Clark.

The true meaning of togetherness was evident at todays gathering, showing that the Anzac spirit is truly alive in Papatoetoe.
