Plain tobacco packaging regulations kick in today

New regulations regarding plain tobacco packaging come into force today, in a move to make New Zealand smokefree by 2025.

Tobacco products can only be sold in plain packaging and branding will also be generic.

In addition, the wording of the health warnings has also been enlarged.

Old-style packets will still be sold, but come June 6, they can only be sold in the newly standardised packets.
