Police locate escaped mental health patients

The two men Waikato Police were searching for have been found.

Both men were patients at the Henry Rongomau Bennett Centre on Selwyn Road and according to the police statement, both were seen scaling a fence at the centre and fleeing down Selwyn Street.

Shift Manager, Senior Sergeant Lance Tebbutt, of the Waikato District Command Centre said the two men were brought in to the Coromandel Police Station by a relative about 9.30am.

"The 28 and 21-year-olds had been on the run since absconding from the facility on Hamilton's Selwyn St about 9pm on Monday."

Waikato Police expressed their thanks to members of the public for their assistance.

Police say the priority now is getting the pair assessed and assigned the appropriate level of care required.
