Police seek help identifying group that assaulted a young girl in Putaruru

The identities of a group of young teenagers who assaulted a young girl in Putaruru are being sought by Taupo Police.

In a statement Police say they are seeking help identifying the group who attacked the girl on Monday the 13th of July between 5 and 6pm.

According to Police the young female first encountered the group on Kensington Street, Putaruru where they began to yell out to her.

Fearing for her safety the young female changed the direction she was walking before again encountering the same group on Terrace Street where the group have surrounded her and began to assault her.

There were approximately 7 to 8 teenagers in the group that attacked the girl.

Detective Constable John Goddard says, ”the young female was extremely vulnerable and was targeted by a group of teenagers and was very lucky to escape without serious injury.”

Taupo Police have asked anyone with information to contact them.
