Politicians welcomed onto Rātana Pā

Politicians descended on to Rātana Pā together today and there was a focused challenge that flew.

Rahui Papa told the Prime Minister, “Closed door negotiations don't work for Māori, Prime Minister.”

The challenges where many and they weren't confined to just the Prime Minister. Words were also directed at the Māori Development Minister, Te Ururoa Flavell.

Labour's leader tried to address the issues with humour, but the big issue was still the TPPA.

The government was asked to delay negotiations until a full consultation is sought. Reitirating concerns that free trade agreements had been made in confidence.

This issue has been debated all weekend. It’s no secret that many Māori oppose the TPPA. And this is the last chance to speak on the issue at a Māori hui, before it's signed on February 4.

However, it wasn't all doom and gloom.

NZ First MP, Winston Peters told the gathering, “you would say you voted for NZ First! then you'll be doing god’s work! “

The main prayer for Rātana will take place tomorrow.
