Another day has passed, and the Prime Minister continues to meet with the minor parties to further discuss possible coalition agreements with the returning National-led Government.
United Future, Act and the Māori Party have all met with John Key and Senior National MPs, and this morning the doors opened to the Māori Party.
The leader of the Māori Party and their executive matriarchs have answered PM John Key's invitation.
John Key says, "It's just an option to have a discussion and see if we can continue to further the relationship we have had with the Māori Party over the past 6 years which we have thoroughly enjoyed."
John Key has already met with United Future leader Peter Dunne and today he met with the Māori Party and the Act Party. Prime Minister John Key says he thinks Te Ururoa Flavell will want the ministerial post of Minister of Māori Affairs.
The former Minister of Whānau Ora, Tariana Turia was also part of today's discussions.
The question is, will her former throne still be held by the Māori Party and will the position be made available to newcomer Marama Fox if she remains as a Māori Party list MP after the special votes are counted?
Marama Fox says, “It's about negotiating on the policies that we have already put out there as a platform throughout the campaign and we do have some bottom lines, one of them is whānau ora and we'll see how that all comes out in the wash.”
Te Ururoa Flavell says they will report back to their supporters and find out what they think of another possible coalition agreement with National.
