The Pt Chev Pirates were the team to beat, scoring their first try in the first five minutes. Their second try came minutes later, from halfway.
Dion Snell got the Howick Hornets on the board, cutting through the defence line and it didn't take them long to notice another hole in the defence to equalise the scores.
Pt Chev finished the first half strong, scoring a try from nowhere to lead 14-10 at the break.
Howick showed they wanted to win, scoring the first try in the second half. Paulos Latu scored his second try of the day for the Hornets to take the lead.
It was the Pirates that came back to score two tries of their own and win the match 26-18 overall.
