Raniera Tau takes 'leave of absence' from positions with Ngāpuhi Rūnanga

Raniera Tau has taken a 'leave of absence' from his positions as Chair and Trustee of Te Rūnanga-Ā-Iwi O Ngāpuhi for a 12 week period which came into effect yesterday.

According to a statement issued by the Rūnanga, Deputy Chair Carol Dodd will become Acting Chair in his absence.

Carol Dodd says, “Mr Tau will also be taking a leave of absence from all his Rūnanga representative roles, including the Rūnanga’s representative on settlement entity Tuhoronuku Independent Mandated Authority (TIMA).

The Rūnanga will confirm the appointment of a Rūnanga representative to TIMA and role of Acting Deputy Chair at its next Board meeting.

Dodd says in the meantime it is business as usual for the Rūnanga group operations and companies.

The statement says Mr Tau has asked for privacy for himself and his whānau.
