Te Puea Marae's board of trustees have decided that Hurimoana Dennis will remain as chair. At a monthly meeting held at the marae last night, Mr Dennis offered to stand down from the position, but the board unanimously voted that he continue in the role, which he accepted. Marae spokesperson Anthony Ruakere said, "Huri's leadership was valuable to the marae as a whole, which was exemplified through the Manaaki Tangata programme." Read more here.
Today it was announced that around $5 million is being invested to provide three Auckland schools with a total of 10 new classrooms. Today's announcement is on top of $153 million announced in June for new schools and classrooms across Auckland. Education Minister Hekia Parata says, "Six of these new classrooms will add additional capacity to the Auckland school network, to help meet roll growth, and the others will replace existing classrooms.
