Research reveals unstable bond between Māori and Asian immigrants

A recent study has highlighted that Māori dislike Asian immigrants more than any other NZ group in the country.

These results come at a time when the Māori Party are trying to build an economic relationship with the Chinese business sector.

According to Te Ururoa Flavell, “That's "according to studies". Let's not believe that all Māori think that way. From my knowledge, over the past couple of years that has been attitude from New Zealanders all over the country.”

The Asia New Zealand Foundation survey says Māori views on Asian immigration have worsened in the past years.

In the latest budget The Māori Party put one million dollars towards a Māori-Chinese love story to help promote Māori culture in China.

Professor Spoonley thinks this is a good start to creating positive attitudes here in New Zealand.
