Ringatū take new pou tikanga to Rātana Pā

The people of the Ringatū faith march their way onto Rātana Pā.

It's the first time Wirangi Pera (Te Aitanga-a-Mahaki) has attended as the pou tikanga and the heart of all the Ringatū parishes.

The pou tikanga role has been revived after laying dormant for more than 30 years, with the aim of re-establishing the traditions the former pou tikanga, Paora Delamere, encouraged.

Representatives of the faith say this was a move to reverse the declining number of followers.
