Today the New Zealand Arts awards announced Māori musician Rob Ruha as one of their Laureate winners.
Five recipients will receive the Laureate award, each receiving $50,000.
Ruha has been an established artist for many years.
The purpose of this award is to further develop artists with potential in the industry. The awards will be presented in Auckland this November.
