After more than nine years in the chair Russel Norman is stepping down as Green Party co-leader.
"Now is a good time to find a new challenge for myself, and spend more time with my family," says Norman.
In a press conference, Norman says he will officially resign at the AGM in May but will stay on as an MP, for the moment.
“Time for a change for me and party. Greens are stronger than ever!” exclaims Norman.
Russel Norman says his replacement will have a full parliamentary term to establish himself.
Female co-leader Metiria Turei, who has no immediate plans to stand down, says the Green Party caucus has agreed not to comment on any potential candidates until a decision is made at the AGM in May.
