School fire treated as suspicious

The Fire Service says a large fire at an Auckland primary school is being treated as suspicious.

An entire block at Richmond Road School in Ponsonby went up in flames early Sunday morning. The school community are shocked and saddened.

John McCaffery is a language assistant at the school.

He says the school has long supported all languages and people, and they will be feeling saddened by the event.

An investigation is currently underway by police, who suspect arson.

The staff and families of Richmond Road School hope to conduct prayers for the burnt-out classrooms and their contents in due course.
