Gallery: Seven new sisters of Matariki perform like stars

Seven young talented women were brought together under the musical guidance of Ngatapa Black to perform in celebration of Matariki, the Māori New Year.

Dubbed the new "Seven Sisters", this was the first time the singers had ever performed as a unit coming together from different parts of the country.

They are: Mere Arihi Pipi-Takoko, Arihia Cassidy, Mereana Teka, Te Ngawari Wright, Faith Raroa, Te Waiarani Epiha and Sheradyn Ngaropo Te Tai.

Their performances were included as part of a four-part Matariki Magic series that broadcast on Māori Television during the Matariki season, where the singers performed their versions of contemporary and traditional Māori songs.

Our cameras were there during set up and rehearsals, and here are a few mini clips taken at Black Note Bar in Auckland City.
