The new Minister for Regional Economic Development Shane Jones has been allocated $1 billion to develop the regions.
As Minister, he plans to plant 100 million trees a year with a goal of planting a billion trees over 10 years. Through this initiative, he hopes to create more employment opportunities out in the regions.
