Shane Jones stays positive

Even though the only Māori in the Labour leadership race failed to get the required votes, Shane Jones says there are plenty of positive outcomes for both himself and the party.

Shane was calm and collected before the announcement was made.

Jones' partner Dorothy Pumipi, doubled as his campaign manager in the leadership race, and their relationship was made public throughout the journey.

Jones is hopeful he'll gain a more senior role within the Labour Party following his involvement in this race.

Our reporter Harata Brown has followed the Bay of Islands native on his pursuit of leadership, and was there today when the announcement was made.
