Sharks secure place in NRL Grand Final

It was history in the making as the Cronulla Sharks smashed their way through to their first NRL Grand Final appearance in 19 years. The Sydney-based club ran rampant over defending champions, North Queensland Cowboys, last night in Sydney.

An awkward start for Lachlan Coote whose slippery fingers let the Cowboys down. Allowing the Sharks to quickly sink their teeth in putting pressure on the Cowboy's defence line.

Two no-tries to the Sharks in the first ten minutes, but basic errors by the Cowboys allowed Sharks to dominate in the first half.

Veteran James Maloney came through for Sosaia Feki and Chad Townsend to try before the blow of the whistle. 14 - 0 to the Sharks.

Coote came back in the second half scoring first points on the board for the Cowboys.

Despite efforts, the defending champs were no match for the Sharks who were hungry to maintain the lead. 32-20 final score.

Tonight's match between Melbourne and Canberra will see who joins the Sharks in the finals.
