Sonny Bill Williams to host skills session at Bayleys National Sevens tournament

Sonny Bill Williams will host a rugby skills and drill session at the Bayleys National Sevens tournament in Rotorua this month.

Supporting sponsor ACC announced his attendance as part of a campaign to help reduce the risk of injury in rugby.

ACC Chief Executive Scott Pickering says like all great sports people Sonny is aware of the importance of training and preparing for a game.

Pickering says “Sonny’s empathy with young people and helping them achieve their goals, his desire to be the best he can and his work with community groups makes him an ideal ACC role model.”

The skills session will demonstrate the importance of learning the right techniques, how to train for a game and enhance enjoyment of the sport.

Bay of Plenty Rugby Union Chief Executive, Mike Rogers says “It’s great to have Sonny Bill Williams in attendance to help teach the next generation of great players how to perform at their best.”

The competition will be held on the 16th and 17th of January.
