Huge opportunity for Gunnar Jackson to fight Mundine

NZ middleweight boxer Gunnar Jackson is heading off to Brisbane for his biggest challenge yet in the ring.

After American boxer Billy Lyell's management failed to respond to an offer after Mundine's original opponent, Carson Jones pulled out with the flu, the offer was then presented to Jackson.

Mundine comes off a TKO win over American veteran Shane Mosley, while Jackson finished Opeti Tagi within two rounds to win the vacant WBO Oriental middleweight title in December.

Jackson says the opportunity will open doors for his career and Te Kāea can confirm his purse earnings will be enough for the 27-year-old to train full-time.

But Jackson says he'll return to his full-time job as a drain layer next week until he makes a decision on his next move.
