Taiaroa's family pleas to public for more information

His family has today, made a public plea for information that could help police find his killer.

Five years ago, a family photo was taken in Raglan - the family held this photo at the conference today and never did they think a tragedy like this would happen to them.

Taiaroa, 67, was directing traffic when he was shot by an unknown assailant believed to have been driving a blue Jeep Cherokee, police are scouring the North Island to locate the vehicle.

His family describe him as a gentle hard-working man that never raised his voice in anger at his children.

His family are at a loss as to why this has happened and say he had no skeletons in the closet.

Police are still trying to establish a motive, but say he was killed in area that was known for drugs and it's unlikely this shooting was random.
