Newcomers Horopounamu took to the regional stage in Tainui as the 7th group of the day.
Horopounamu was first established in 2013, and have members from the various marae and hapū of the Waikato region.
Their main goal is to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Rangiriri Pā Wars.
Horopounamu pay homage to those who fell in battle, and hope to teach and remind their own children, that their ancestors who fought at Rangiriri, did so for the betterment of their descendants.
Their distinct choice in costume clearly stood out on stage today, here is their powerful whakaeke.
