Tāmaki Herenga Waka Festival wraps up for 2016

Today marks the anniversary in which, under the direction of Governor Hobson, Auckland became the Capital of New Zealand 175 years ago.

The Tāmaki Herenga Waka Festival has taken place for the first time this weekend.

The festival is an opportunity for Tāmaki to rejoice and unite. Ethnicities from many countries have attended the event to gain an insight into the Māori world.

Te Kāea reporter, Harata Brown brings us the latest from today’s celebrations.
