Taniwharau knock Ngāruawāhia Panthers off perch

The Panthers did all the early running. For 15 minutes Taniwharau didn't even get close to the home team's score line.

After 20min Taniwharau winger, Teina Ngahiwi scored the first try. Taniwharau were back a few minutes later, overlapping the left and giving Tiniwaata Dixon the opportunity to finish off with a try in the corner.

There were times where Ngāruawahia were close, but couldn't quite get there. Taniwharau found the try line for the third time in the first half.

Dixon's fast feet got Taniwharau more points on the scoreboard, 14 - 0 was the halftime score. The home side had plenty of chances in the second half to come back.

Taniwharau made small mistakes and gave penalties away. For nearly 15 minutes the visitors defended their line.

Ngāruawāhia had a chance to score in the final minutes, but didn't in the end, both teams were scoreless in the half, Taniwharau taking the match, 14 - 0.
