This newly-formed group, Ngauru ki Uta Pakeke was established to support the aspirations of their competitive side 'Ngauru ki Uta' who will take the stage as the second-to-last to perform at this year's Te Arawa regional competition.
Ngauru ki Uta whānau members travelled to the various marae within Ngāti Tūwharetoa where a number of kaumātua gave their blessings to the group.
Members use kapa haka as a vehicle to revive many of the songs of yesteryear, with their main goal to uplift and support Te Whare Ariki o Te Heuheu, and all it encompasses, and to strengthen their special bond with Te Arawa.
Here is Ngauru ki Uta Pakeke and their whakaeke.
