Te Kura Wiwini, Te Kura Wawana - Te Ngākau o Te Awa

Te Ngākau o te Awa is made up of students of Cullinane College representing Whanganui, Taranaki and Te Atihaunui-ā-Pāpārangi.

Established in 1996, this is the sixth time this kapa has competed at the national secondary schools kapa haka competition.

Te Ngākau o te Awa was formulated under St Augustines and Sacred Heart College of Whanganui, the schools combined in 2003 to form Cullinane College.

Tutored this year by Te Taepa Kameta, and Kamaka and Chelsea Manuel, the group is led on stage by their kaitātaki wahine, Anamaraea Lake Hemi and the kaitātaki tāne, Te Hiiri Ponga.

Here is their whakawātea which is dedicated the Kōhanga Reo throughout the country and the children within them learning in te reo Māori with the key message, 'Mā te reo, ka ora ai tātou'.
