Te Kura Wiwini, Te Kura Wawana - Te Wairoa

Te Wairoa kicked off Day Two's proceedings at the Secondary Schools Kapa Haka Nationals being held at Houhoupiko, Gisborne.

Hailing from Ngāti Kahungunu, Te Wairoa has appeared on the national stage three times now.

Originally founded by Rangi Paku and Honor Goldsmith, tutoring the team this year is Te Tokorima a Hine Manuhiri.

Kapa haka is an inaugural part of the extra-curricular programmes offered at Te Wairoa, which has been the platform for all groups who have represented the Wairoa community at auspicious occasions like this event.

Leading the group today are the kaitātaki wāhine, Rangimarie Crawford-King and Leonadine Grant, and Yvane Carroll as kaitātaki tāne.
