Stacey Reriti was sentenced to 10 years and six months in jail in the High Court at Wellington today on charges of sexual violation by unlawful sexual connection and an indecent act on a minor.
The victim was only 10 when the offending started in 2011 while Reriti was teaching at Natone Park School in Porirua.
In sentencing Reriti, Justice Mark Woolford noted that women cannot be charged with rape so 31-year-old Reriti was found guilty on seven sex abuse charges.
Ririti's mental state during the offending was also acknowledged.
