Teina Pora could face another trial

Teina Pora could face yet another trial over the murder of Susan Burdett, depending on a decision by the Privy Council in London.

Pora's lawyer has presented their case to the Privy Council and are now awaiting a decision.

The law lords and the lawyers involved in the case suggested the option is being considered were to order a retrial, or remit the case to the New Zealand Court of Appeal for it to hear expert evidence and then decide whether to order a retrial.

Pora was convicted in 1994 of being a party to the rape and murder of Burdett after he confessed to police.

The law lords have heard evidence of a false confession, and Pora's fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD).

Now starts the nervous wait for Pora and his legal team.
