Thousands queue to farewell Mandela

The Union Buildings in Pretoria is where the father, Madiba is lying in state.

The Minister of Māori Affairs came to pay his respects today with a few other international dignitaries.

According to Māori Affairs Minister, Pita Sharples, “When I went in, I farewelled him. Despite each person being allocated a short time, I was able to farewell this great man.”

Only the international delegates were allowed to go in today and although the doors were closed to the public, many still came.

Singers had also gathered to farewell Madiba. One song in particular said, "Madiba, hamba kahle", which translates as, "Madiba, go well".

People have gathered from all over the world and Africa to farewell the loss of an immensely great leader.

Despite the loss people continue to sing on, to send Tata Madiba's spirit on.
