Three Mongrel Mob members dead following suspicious incident

State Highway 2 from Wairoa to Napier was closed temporarily today as a chopper was used to try to retrieve a car that crashed in to the Mōhaka River.  Hawke's Bay Police are still investigating the suspicious event that killed three Mongrel Mob members and left one injured.

Terry Stone, Ronald Rigby, and Nathan Isaac were on their way to the Mongrel Mob 50th anniversary held at Te Aute Hotel in Hastings on the weekend.

Police are treating the incident as suspicious and is currently searching for a blue Japanese-make car with a dent in the bonnet which they believe was involved.

The Mōhaka area is considered to be Black Power territory which is one of the Mongrel Mob's rivals.  Te Kāea has received information from a source that the Police are currently working with the Mongrel Mob and understand it is “some heavy stuff they are dealing with."

Te Kāea spoke to Hastings Mongrel Mob President, Rex Timu today, who declined speaking on camera but is calling for anyone that might have information to come forward.
