Top four women tee-off at Māori Golf championship

Tee-off for the top four women in the NZ Māori Golf nationals set the standard in today's stroke play.

Last year's women's winner, Kate Chadwick is looking at building her game.

“All the shots count and it's completely different from match play so whoever wins it today has to have a level head and play really well.”

Today's about testing the players on this course, but one of the top players of this championship says the tournament is seen as an avenue to uplift Māori in golf.

According to Te Rongopai Clay, “Having the entry into the NZ open is really good for the Māori girl's, because only the top five from NZ get in and then one of us gets to go and represent Māori so that is real good.”

Match play begins tomorrow with tee-off from both venues starting at 7am and we're expecting to see more great golf.
