Trust board meets with Mataatua-Tauranga kōhanga reo

When Te Kāea arrived at the meeting, the doors were closed to our camera.

However, members of the Kōhanga Reo Trust Board today met with representatives from Mataatua-Tauranga kōhanga reo.

Te Kāea understands the meeting was called by the Trust Board today to address and resolve issues raised by Mataatua-Tauranga kōhanga reo over a month ago, after Titoki Black, former CEO, was stood down.

One representative from Mataatua-Tauranga said the hui today gave them the opportunity to have their concerns heard by the Board.  They also said they are hopeful a resolution will come about sooner rather than later.

Native Affairs were going to air a story tonight on the Kōhanga Reo National Trust's financial management, but this afternoon in the Wellington High Court, the Trust was granted an injunction which has stopped the broadcast.

The Trust claims the story contains private and confidential information.

Native Affairs argues the case is in the public interest and Māori Television will fight to get the story to air.
