Tūteao set to compete in marae cook off show

The team faced off against competition from all over NZ and will join seven other teams in Auckland next month.

The two killer cooks on this marae are known as Whāea Lolo and Philly and they plan on making their mark when they get to Auckland.

After entering Marae Kai Masters, they'll go up against seven other teams.

Whaea Lolo says it started out as a bit of a joke but they are focused after making the cut.

They also believe it’s a prime opportunity to extend their knowledge of cooking and take the new skills they find back home.

They are hoping to experiment and come up with tasty and healthy food options for kids on the marae.

Lolo says they have looked at different ways of enhancing the food they make and have been testing their new and improved recipes at marae functions.

The eight-part series will see opponents from various marae cater for 200 people at a time.
