Two Fatal Stabbings in West Auckland

Operation Kangaroo is underway and Police are looking for any information relating to the fatal stabbing of a 42-year old man in Glendene.

Detective Inspector John Sutton says, "We are looking for any information, we are asking the public if they were in the scene or near that scene last night to come forward. We would also say that the three or four people that we believe were involved in this dispute with the deceased. We would like you to come forward and tell us what took place."

Last night Police arrived at the scene around 9pm where the man was treated and transported to Auckland Hospital where he died shortly after.

He says, "Tomorrow we anticipate there will be a post-mortem to establish the cause of the death. We hope by tomorrow we will be able to release the name of the deceased and we will be confirming with the next of kin that they have been informed and once that has been done I will release that information."

Te Kāea spoke to nearby residents where neighbour Natasha Khan says the stabbing occurred in the front of the driveway to the home of the deceased.

19-year-old Khan says the deceased was well known to her and her family.

She says, "I think it happened around nine o'clock it was after we had dinner and I went to my room and all of a sudden I just heard lots of yelling. There was a lot of like kids and like older people hanging around at the bus stop area then I think a fight happened and everyone just ran off. I saw a car with like two females and then they came to a bus stop like they returned back with the male and they drove off. We heard someone say help but I think our neighbours called the Police for them."

In Te Atatu South a 36-year old woman has been charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of another 36-year old woman.

Police are yet to release the name of the victim but the accused will appear before the Waitākere District Court tomorrow.
