U20s vying for spot on Junior Tall Blacks squad

22 of the best U20 players have been putting in the hard yards to showcase their talents and hopefully gain a spot in the Junior Tall Blacks team.

Coached by former Tall Blacks player Pero Cameron, he says there's a good mixture of talent, but it's going to be hard to cut the squad down.

Players have come from all over the country and Australia to trial in Auckland.

Jamal Talo is currently living in Melbourne but decided he wants to play for NZ.

“It’s a good experience, just playing with good players, just a blessing to be back here trying to play for the country.”

Currently training at the Andrew Bogut Academy in Melbourne, Jamal and his brother, Latrel, made the trek to their country of birth a few weeks to learn more skills.

Jamal says, “I’m hoping to make it. It will be a good stepping stone for me to get high up in the leagues.”

This isn't the first time they've been invited home to train.

In September, both brothers were invited to train with the NZ Breakers for three weeks.

The 10-man squad will be named later this week.
