Warriors recall Gubb for Bronco’s clash

Charlie Gubb's impressive performance for the Warriors Intrust Super Premiership side has earned him a spot in the top side for this weekend’s clash against Brisbane at Mount Smart Stadium. Gubb is one of five players named in an extended bench for round 13 of the NRL.

Gubb says, "It was good playing NSW's Cup on the weekend and getting some confidence, I felt like I had a strong game."

The 26-year-old is back in the side after being dropped to reserve grade. But Gubb was that determined to regain his spot in the top side, he put his body on the line.

"I had got knocked out in the game, but I am always happy to be back in the side, I passed my concussion test I had a full week off because we had that bye week,” says Gubb.

The five man bench is made up of Charlie Gubb, Nathaniel Roache, Albert Vete, Sam Lisone and Ligi Sao.

Gubb says, "Cappy (McFadden) showed a lot of faith in me. I started the season, hawhereI started and I was having a good game and having a bad game so I just have to be consistent."

Manu Vatuvei makes a timely return after being side-lined due to personal reasons. Vatuvei was one of six players stood down for breaking team protocol and prescription drug use.

Vatuvei says, "I was struggling with a lot of pressure, I could say I was a bit depressed but coming away with that I have moved on with it now. I know what I need to do and need to focus on."

This will also be hooker Issac Luke’s 199th career game leaving him with one match away in joining the 200-club in the 14th-round match against Newcastle on June 11.
