Warriors wife Roi Beale says I’m no wag, I’m a boxer

The wife of Warriors, Kiwis and Māori All Stars player Gerade Beale isn't your typical footy's wife Roimata who hails from Otaki has made a name for herself in boxing and fitness industry.

“I think it wasn’t until after we had our first son [Nickson] that I wanted to get back into shape, I really found a love for the gym,” said Roimata.

The humble couple has mixed it with the glamours in the NRL thanks to Beale's footy career which has seen him pull on the jumper for the Brisbane Broncos, St George Illawarra Dragons, and Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks.

“It’s not all gilts and glam [Glamorous], that everyone thinks it is. We get labeled wags, but were not all like that,” says Roimata Beale

“I’m not going to sugar coat, lot of girls and males, they’ll pass comments like it must be a famous rich life, famous husband. To be honest it’s not like that at all’

Beale who is in his second season with the Warriors fully supports his wife's boxing journey.  Roimata starting boxing while living in Australia, but since moving home Roimata has joined Auckland's Mayhem Boxing Gym training alongside 2018 Commonwealth Games bronze medallist, boxer Boxer Troy Garton.
